Anna Mae Hill Thiede
Anna Mae Hill was born in Montfort, Wisconsin, on February 2, 1873. Annie, as she was affectionately known, was the second of eleven children born to John and Mary Ann Hill. She married Charles Thiede in the nearby town of Lancaster on December 11, 1895, and she was mother to four children—John Elmer (1897), Charles Clement (1899), Verna (1901), and Harold (1904).
In addition to the four children who lived full lives of their own, Charles and Annie also had a daughter and a son who died at birth or in early infancy, a fate that was all too common to families at this time.
Annie Mae Hill Thiede died in Dubuque, Iowa, on June 2, 1958, and she is buried at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque along with her husband Charles Thiede who preceded her in death nearly twenty years earlier.
In this photo of three sisters, Annie is pictured on the right along with her older sister Margaret on the left and her younger sister Lillian in the middle.

In 1948, Elmer, Clem, Verna, and Harold posed together for the first time since their father died in 1939, and it would turn out to be the last time that the four siblings would be together since Harold died six months later at the age of 45.
